Internship Day1

When I first walked into Mrs. Roberts first grade classroom at North Ridge Elementary, I was feeling many emotions.

I was wearing my Education and Training polo and name tag with jeans and converse.

When I entered, I was nervous of what the kids were going to think of me. I was scared of what to expect of these first graders. Can they read? Do they know if you don't know a word to sound it out? What level of math were they at? I had no clue what to expect, but when I walked in and I saw all of their smiling faces- eager to learn- all my fears went away. While I am there they do reading and writing station. I usually help any kids that need help with their activities or settle any spiffles between students.

I am excited to go back and continue on with this adventurous year.

Scenario 2

I checked my phone while at my field site and i saw one of my friends had an early dismissal. She asked me to sign her out. I didn't see her on the bus, but my teacher always reminds us to make friends with who we work with so I sign her out anyways.

In this situation, I would give my friend the benefit of the doubt and sign her out,. Although I would tell my EAT teacher that I didn't think that I saw her on the bus, but I could of just looked over her.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar .

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Written and Illustrated by Eric Carle

A new born caterpillar gets very hungry and eats throughout the book, at the end he wraps himself up in a cocoon eats his way out of that and turns into a big beautiful butterfly.  Carle illustrates bright colors to keep children drawn into the book and reinforces a counting lesson by pair fruit in numerical    order. This book is a great lesson for kids K-2.

While teaching with this book I could emphasize counting and adding, also the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly.

One activity  that I can use would be to have the children group up and retell the story to me and to the other students. This would help to let the kids understand sequencing, counting and retelling stories.

Another activity  would be to have the kids count with the caterpillar. Count with the caterpillars spots, color them with specified colors and to learn new spelling words.
